16-core Network Processor delivers exceptional throughput

The Lanner MR-955 security appliance utilizes OCTEON’s CN58XX and CN38XX series of Multi-core MIPS64 SoC processors to deliver intelligent, multi-gigabit networking. Supporting Cavium’s range of OCTEON CN58XX and CN38XX processors, each with four to sixteen MIPS64 cores on a single chip, the MR-955 integrates next-generation networking I/O along with advanced security and application hardware acceleration.

This technology is the industry’s first implementation of the MIPS64 release 2 instruction set, developed from the ground up for the highest networking and services performance with very low power consumption. Security hardware acceleration in the MR-955 implements the latest set of algorithms, including AES-GCM and SHA-2 (up to SHA-512).

The Lanner MR-955 also integrates essential and unique hardware acceleration for intelligent networking, including compression/decompression, TCP, and pattern matching, delivering industry best performance. Supported by an industry-standard software toolchain and operating systems, the MR-955 offers a 3x+ performance, power, and real estate value proposition over alternatives.
